This is Koide from Sado.
Today was the safety prayer ceremony at Kitakoura.
A Shinto priest came to us
and prayed for safe diving throughout the year.
Divers from the public joined us too,
making it a lively start to the season!
Right after that, we set off on a boat dive.
Today we dove at Akaiwa and Nagate.
At Nagate…
there were lots of baby dangouo (a tiny lumpsucker)!
In 50 minutes of diving,
we spotted about 30 of them.
Today's group was a slow photography team,
so I was free to roam around as the one in charge of finding dango babies.
I found them all over the place.
The seaweed that dangouo like to cling to
seems to be decreasing little by little each year,
and in some spots, 2 or 3 of them had gathered on the same seaweed.
Even so, today was truly
a luxurious dango dive.
Right now is just when the babies have started to appear.
The “angel ring” unique to babies is clearly visible,
and they are just so cute.
