March 17: Chagara Egg Guarding Has Begun!

Staff blog | Published: | Written by Hiroyuki Koide (Sado Shop Manager)

Diving at Sado Island: March 17: Chagara Egg Guarding Has Begun!, photo 1

This is Koide from Sado!

We held a dive at Mushizaki.

We went looking for chagara (a goby) guarding eggs, one of the treats of this season.

March to May is spawning season.

We thought, “Maybe it's about time?” and went searching…

Sure enough, it had started!

And this time we confirmed it at 3 spots in total!

The first photo shows a beautiful pose with fins spread wide.

The second shows the expression of a parent guarding its eggs.

Some spots are difficult to observe,

but we'd like to keep quietly watching over them from here on.

Water temp: 10.5℃
