Diving at Sado Island: March 4: A Baby Hoteiuo, photo 1

This is Koide from Sado!

Here's who I met in the spring sea:

a tiny angel about 5 mm long 👼🌸,

a baby hoteiuo (smooth lumpsucker).

It's a northern species of fish, and one of the spring creatures we especially recommend, typical of Niigata's seas.

The way it perches neatly on top of the seaweed is just irresistibly adorable.

With this tiny body, it lives in the cold sea.

The soft pink in the background

gave the scene a real springtime feel.

A seasonal cuteness you can only meet right now.

Why not come and see it? 🌊

🌡 Water temp: 11.5°C
