Diving at Sado Island: September 1: Kitakoura, photo 1

Hello! This is Chika from Freeway.

September starts today!

It's still as hot as summer, but underwater, signs of autumn are slowly starting to show.

And today, guess what?!

We saw an out of season fight between kobudai (Asian sheepshead wrasse)!

A one on one duel between Kojiro and Musashi.

These are two kobudai we see all the time, but today they battled really fiercely!

And today, it seemed like Musashi had a slight edge……?!

Things played out differently than usual, and we couldn't help getting totally absorbed watching (lol).

Seasonal visitor fish are also increasing more and more!

Today a juvenile meichidai (a large eye bream) appeared for the first time.

Just thinking that even more species will show up from here on is exciting!

On top of that, on a female kobudai……

there were 5 juvenile bluestreak cleaner wrasse!

We could see them crowding around her and cleaning away diligently.

The sight of 5 tiny cleaner wrasse gathered together was quite fun to watch.

The wide angle scenes were just as good!

The school of isaki (chicken grunt) was breathtaking!

And a yellowtail amberjack (hiramasa) showed up, charging into a school of horse mackerel!

The moment a whole school moves at once is truly powerful.

Now that it's September, the Sado sea is gradually turning into its autumn self.

More seasonal visitor fish are arriving, and the fish are getting more and more interesting to watch.

What kinds of fish will show up for us next……

The autumn Sado sea is getting more and more exciting!

Today's underwater photos were provided by our guest, Y.F.!

Thank you very much.

We look forward to diving with you again tomorrow.
