Diving at Sado Island: July 4: Kitakoura, photo 1

This is Ando!

Today was our Tanabata (Star Festival) dive at Kitakoura!

The weather was fantastic, and even looking down from the boat, all we could see was blue.

Visibility stretched all the way to 20m, making it a day with truly the best conditions.

For the first dive, we entered at the artificial reef.

Fish are getting more and more abundant, and the sea has already turned to summer!

You can watch the schools, or hunt for rare finds in the gaps between the rocks! We found little pinecone fish and, something you only see at this time of year, super tiny juvenile kobudai (Asian sheepshead wrasse).

The second dive was at Akaiwa.

Everyone took part in a special Tanabata mission.

Underwater, we tied wishes written by local elementary school children onto a bamboo branch.

Decorating the sea with children's wishes is an experience you rarely get to have.

The sight of the wish strips swaying in the blue sea was something only this day could offer.

For lunch, we all dug into bento boxes from Merepare Kaiko.

Eating together after diving really is the best.

All in all, this Tanabata dive can be summed up in one phrase: the sea was great.

Our next Tanabata dive will be held at Ogi on July 11.

We'll support you so that even beginners can relax and enjoy themselves.
