[Lake Kamo and Umezu Beach]
This is Koide from Sado!
Today I went diving at Lake Kamo and Umezu with a repeat guest.
On their last visit they asked, “Next time I'd like to try Lake Kamo,” so this time I took them to the long awaited Lake Kamo.
The weather was clear and sunny, and the sea was flat calm. Visibility was good too, with no swell: really comfortable conditions.
The water temp was 18 to 20°C. It has gotten much warmer than a little while ago, and you can feel the season moving along.
At Lake Kamo we observed blennies such as tosakaginpo, a Lake Kamo specialty, and isoginpo, as well as nabeka guarding their eggs and akaobishimahaze (a goby) guarding their eggs.
At Umezu we saw eelgrass flowers, himeika (Japanese pygmy squid) and their eggs, kinubari (a goby), hanahaze (a dartfish), and more.
Right now is the season when Sado's macro life is really interesting. All around the eelgrass beds, you can see tiny lives going about their business.
And next comes kobudai (Asian sheepshead wrasse) season. From spring macro to summer wide angle, the way the sea changes its face with the seasons is part of Sado's charm.
The sea of Sado always has something new to discover, no matter how many times you dive it.
