May 11: Lake Kamo

This is Koide from Sado!

Offered only from spring to early summer,

the Lake Kamo dive is where we went this time.

It's called a lake,

but it's actually a special environment quite close to seawater.

It's a dive site where you can enjoy an atmosphere different from Sado's usual sea.

The water temp that day was 15°C.

The open sea is around 12°C,

so in spring the season moves along a little earlier in Lake Kamo.

The maximum depth is only about 3 m.

Visibility was also around 3 m,

but there were lots of bryozoans and hydroids,

and small creatures were increasing.

This time,

we confirmed about 12 or 13 species of nudibranchs.

Hanayagi umiushi,

kurokosode umiushi,

fujita umiushi types, and more:

we took our time observing small creatures that feel like spring.

Different from a dive with great visibility,

this sea is packed with “the fun of searching for creatures.”

It's a pretty niche dive site,

but many people look forward to this time of year every year.

Spring to early summer,

and only during dry suit season.

If you have a weekday request,

we'd be happy to take you there!
