We went diving in Sado's sea over the weekend!
This is Yabiki from Freeway's Niigata shop.
On Saturday, we did two shore dives and a night dive at Ryuodo in Ogi.
We were aiming to see ainame (fat greenling) eggs hatch out, but no luck!?
But then… there was a dangouo (a tiny lumpsucker).
I didn't think there would be any, so it was a happy surprise and I got really excited!
Lit up by our lights and clinging neatly to the seaweed, the little dangouo had a rather intense gaze.
On Sunday, we finally made our first boat dive of the season at Kitakoura, which we had been eagerly waiting for.
The swell was big, so conditions weren't ideal, but on two dives at Akaiwa we were able to spot kobudai (Asian sheepshead wrasse) in two tone coloring, plus juvenile dangouo and juvenile hoteiuo (smooth lumpsucker)!
A mizudako (North Pacific giant octopus) gave us a glare.
It's getting a little warmer, bit by bit.
Let's all head to the sea!
Water temp: 11.5°C
