February 17: Still Watching Ainame Eggs

Diving at Sado Island: February 17: Still Watching Ainame Eggs, photo 1

In a normal year, the season of ainame (fat greenling) guarding their eggs would be nearing its end about now.

I dove in with my heart pounding, wondering, “Is it already over…?”

…Yes!!

There were still eggs left ✨

What's more, we confirmed 2 egg masses at different stages of development.

One had sparkling eyes, looking ready to hatch out at any moment 👀

The other is at a stage we should be able to enjoy for about 10 more days.

This year it looks like we can watch them longer than usual!

We're getting more days with good weather, too ☀

Nudibranchs keep increasing as well!

Sado's spring sea is really interesting right now.

Come dive with us! 🤿✨

Oh, I found a young pinecone fish.

We're seeing them a lot this year 👀

🌡 Water temp: 11.5°C
