Hello!

This is Chika Nakagawa from the Freeway Sado shop.

About the sea blog…

I'm sorry I haven't been able to update it.

I have been updating Instagram and Facebook, though.

And while I wasn't updating, autumn deepened in no time, both on land and in the sea.

Today we dove at Kitakoura.

With guests we hadn't seen in a while and a guest who loves nudibranchs…

Dive 1: Shipwreck

We wondered if there might be any unusual nudibranchs,

but no matter how hard we searched, all we found were kogekinpo (a blenny). (lol)

There were lots of fish, with schools of mebaru (Japanese rockfish), kijihata (red-spotted grouper), isaki (chicken grunt), chagara (a goby) and more!

Just as I was thinking it was about time to surface…

a guide from another shop diving from the same boat was ringing an underwater bell and filming something with a GoPro!

No way, no way!

This one is super rare in Sado!

“Tsubameuo” (batfish)

It's a southern fish that doesn't live around Sado Island.

I was sooo surprised!

I had seen one about 10 years ago, but…

I was truly amazed!

Once the water temperature drops, they die, so…

it's sad, but…

I was really, really surprised!

On the second dive, this time we really took our time on a nudibranch dive!

We dove at Akaiwa.

★ One unidentified species: I'll look it up

For this time of year, I think we found quite a variety.

At the end, Kojiro the kobudai (Asian sheepshead wrasse) came out too, and it was good to see it looking healthy.

I'm so glad both dives turned out to be fun.

The autumn sea of Sado!

I say it every year, but there are lots of fish and it's a really fascinating sea.

Getting to see surprising fish like today is one of the real joys of autumn!

We look forward to welcoming you to the island!

Thank you again for today.
