Hello, this is Koide from Freeway's Sado shop!
We went to Katanoo to observe giant red sea bream (madai) 🤗
But the old giant red sea bream that always comes close to us
wasn't there 💦
Too bad 💦
Instead, we observed sabikaramatsu and umikaramatsu.
About 2 to 3 m in size, the sabikaramatsu (a soft coral)
really stands out against the blue sea!
From another angle, this is how it grows!
Red sea bream also show up here,
so I'd love to photograph the sabikaramatsu together with a red sea bream.
At Katanoo, nudibranchs also become more numerous from winter through autumn.
↓ A pair of koganematsukasaumiushi (laying eggs)
↓ Futasujiminoumiushi (the sea anemone in the background makes a nice accent!)
↓ Subesubejoouminoumiushi (about 5 mm in size)
As the water gets colder, red sea bream and other fish become fewer,
but it's the season when nudibranchs increase!
At Katanoo, we've been able to observe nudibranchs we don't see at Kitakoura or Ogi.
We run boat dives at Katanoo all year round,
so we look forward to your requests 🤗
