Hello!
Writing from the Niigata shop on a day when the wind is howling and the cold cuts right through you.
This post is a little late, but on January 9 we held a "Mushizaki Night" dive, so let us tell you about it.
Ohagurobera (a wrasse)
Chagara (a goby)
A young takanohadai (spottedtail morwong)
Masses of plankton
Dainan umihebi (a snake eel)
The dainan umihebi feeding on plankton
Mimiika (a bobtail squid)
A young kinubari (a goby)
We had seen dangouo (a tiny lumpsucker) on our last Mushizaki Night, so of course we went looking for them, but we came up completely empty (sob).
There were no dangouo, but the seabed here is different from Ogi (Mushizaki: sand, Ogi: fine gravel), so we got to meet a different set of creatures!
Of all of them, though it isn't a seasonal thing, the "pencil-sized dainan umihebi" was ridiculously cute.
Once you see one in person, even if you don't like the big ones, you'll fall in love with the little ones!

■Warm clothes for on land
Knit hat, gloves (water repellent ones are recommended), disposable heat packs
■It's snowing on Sado too
Warm winter boots that can handle snow are a good idea.

Personally, I recommend foldable rubber boots with warm insoles: you can leave them in your mesh bag, and you can use them all year round, including the rainy season.
