Hello, this is Koide from the Sado shop!
The north wind picked up today, and it was a cold one!
In search of hoteiuo (smooth lumpsucker) guarding their eggs, a winter highlight,
we held dives at Ogi, but we didn't manage to find any.
It's about time they should be guarding eggs, but...
I hope they show up soon!
However, the number of nudibranch species has been steadily increasing!
Today we found 13 species of nudibranchs together with our guests.
Here are a few photos. Have you seen any of these before?
① Amamo umiushi
A really tiny nudibranch, about 3mm.
Take your eyes off it and... you'll never find it again.
② Azuki umiushi
A nudibranch that increases in the coming season.
It's often found clinging to seaweed, and its blue rhinophores and rear end are distinctive.
③ Tsuzure umiushi
A nudibranch often seen on night dives.
I think its mottled pattern is pretty (?)!
Ainame (fat greenling) guarding eggs can still be observed too!
This is how they look right now. Maybe hatching is coming soon.
Tomorrow we're planning boat diving at Mushizaki!
Fingers crossed the sea conditions don't get worse!
The cold days continue, but winter is a fascinating sea where you can observe the behavior of marine life.
We look forward to guiding you all.
