Diving at Sado Island: September 6 Dive Log, photo 1

Good evening

from Sado Island, where the late summer heat is fierce.

It was fairly windy during the day, but around sunset the wind stopped,

and it turned into a muggy, unpleasant heat.

Because of the recent typhoon, the Sado Blue that had lasted since late August was in a really sorry state, but now,

some good news.

Sado Blue is back!!!

We saw signs of recovery yesterday at Ogi and Kitakoura too, but today at Kitakoura,

“Sado Blue” is completely back!

Today we could clearly see all the way to the bottom at Akaiwa from the surface!

And of course, the fish milling around

could be seen too!

Today we dove at Akaiwa and the artificial reef, and found 2 new hanatatsu (seahorses)!

We found them in places we hadn't searched before.

This year they're doing as well as ever.

The one at Akaiwa is a bit deep, but it's really cute!

The kokeginpo (a small blenny) seem to be multiplying too.

The aji are still here in huge numbers.

At the artificial reef, large aji are forming big schools, which is really impressive to see.

It's the kind of school you could get great shots of with a wide lens.

The seasonal visitor fish are gradually increasing too, so Sado Island is right in the middle of its best season!

However, a typhoon will start having an effect around the day after tomorrow.

There's a chance that this one will ruin the visibility again, just after it came back.

We're hoping for another super recovery next time.

Here's the sea report.
