A Nomura's jellyfish (echizen kurage), not beaten by the cold.
February 3 was Setsubun, and people everywhere were throwing beans, weren't they?
At Freeway, it was
“air bean throwing.”
Yesterday's diving: sea and weather conditions were decent for this time of year. The Kanto region got snow
and looked like it was having a rough time, but no snow fell on Sado. It was cloudy, and conditions were easy for diving, considering it's February.
The water temperature has dropped to 10 to 11°C. With calm seas, visibility was good: 15 to 20 m!
We went to Kotoura looking for hoteiuo (smooth lumpsucker), but sadly couldn't find any. When we asked the fishermen, they said none at all have been turning up in their nets.
Could they be late coming to the south this year...
Under the rock where we see them every year, we found spear squid (yariika) eggs!
We should be able to see them hatch around Golden Week. I want to see it again this year. The moment life is born! It's really moving.
Here's the sea report.
