This is Koide from Sado.
Underwater photographer Kazushige Horiguchi is currently staying in Sado for three days to photograph mebaru (Japanese rockfish).
I'm joining as a guide, showing the kind of scenery that is truly Sado in summer.
This time I'd like to introduce the mebaru gathering around white umikaramatsu coral.
Mebaru glowing gold, pure white umikaramatsu, and a blue sea that stretches on forever.
A scene where these three colors overlap is a beautiful underwater landscape you can only encounter in Sado in summer.
Mebaru usually spend much of their time in the shadows of rocks, but at this time of year they form schools and show us a sight that leaves you spellbound.
Right now is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year under the sea in Sado.
“I didn't know the Sea of Japan could be this beautiful.”
We'd be happy if you could come and feel that wonder for yourself in the sea of Sado.
Photographed at Kitakoura, Sado City, Niigata Prefecture
