This is Koide from Sado!
Sending local children's wishes into the sea
Today was our Tanabata dive at Jizo in the Ogi area!
Together with the participating divers, we hung tanzaku (paper wish strips) written by local elementary school students on the underwater bamboo we set up at the Jizo dive site.
This Tanabata dive is an annual event we hold every year, but this is the first year we have delivered the wishes of local children to the sea. Together with about 30 divers, we were able to share a special time.
Visibility was 10 to 15m.
Summery light streamed in at the surface, and the bottom was covered with baby chagara (a goby)! Their adorable look had me gazing at them without realizing it.
Damselfish, horse mackerel, largescale blackfish, striped beakfish and more: the fish life was dense, and the sea was full of the vitality of summer on Sado.
It was a day when I felt very happy to be able to connect with the local community through the sea.
To all the divers who took part, and to the elementary school students who entrusted us with their wishes, thank you so much.
