July 9: Mushizaki

Hello!

This is Chika from Freeway.

Today I went for a nice, relaxed dive from the beach.

Underwater, lots of juvenile chagara (a goby) were swimming around, and the sight of those little fish was so soothing.

We also met all sorts of other creatures and could take our time enjoying the underwater world.

Since today was a shore dive, I brought my camera down with me too.

Looking back at the photos I took... wow, so many shots of fish faces from the front!

That made me realize I seem to love capturing fish expressions from the front.

Even the same creature looks completely different from the side, from above and from the front, which is really interesting.

If you take photos, please try shooting from all kinds of angles.

You might find a new favorite shot.

The cutest of the day was a kusafugu (grass puffer) taking a nap buried in the sand.

The way it rested, tucked neatly into the sand, was just adorable.

But if you got too close, it would get startled and pop out of the sand, so taking photos was pretty tricky.

Now that it is July, we are gradually getting more guests.

I can really feel that the summer diving season on Sado has finally begun.

And this weekend, on Saturday, we will be holding an underwater Tanabata event in Ogi.

I am already excited to see what kind of underwater Tanabata it will be!

Well then, tomorrow I will be out enjoying the Sado sea again.
