This is Koide from Sado!
[Mushizaki, 3 shore dives | The reward for patience]
Today I did 3 shore dives at Mushizaki with a repeat guest who loves underwater photography.
It was a day of slow, careful macro shooting with a Sony α7Ⅲ.
The wind was fairly strong, but thanks to the offshore wind the sea was very calm.
No current and no swell: perfect conditions for photography.
Dive 1
Chagara (a goby) guarding eggs (10m)
Dive 2
Sangotatsu, a type of seahorse (17m)
Dive 3
Dangouo (a tiny lumpsucker) and chagara guarding eggs (12m)
And then, on the third dive…
We actually witnessed chagara eggs hatching!
By taking our time with the same subject
and staying patient, we got to see this moment.
Drama like this is exactly why we can't get enough of the sea around Sado.
Even with a water temp of 10.5℃ and visibility under 5m, we were this satisfied.
It was a day packed with “the joy of shooting with a goal in mind”!
Next time, it might be your turn.
