March 19: Ogi (Kofuku Jizo ×2), photo 1

Good evening, this is Koide from Freeway's Sado shop.

This year's spear squid eggs are incredible!

I've never seen so many laid like this before!

I'd heard from fishermen that the amount of squid caught in their nets has been dropping every year.

And it does seem like the number of eggs we see while diving has been decreasing year by year…

I'd been worried that the sea around Sado was changing.

But this year is amazing!

I'd love for you to take some wide angle photos of them.

They've only just been laid, so it looks like we'll be able to see them for a while.

Visibility was maybe 5m to 10m.

The water is getting murkier right on schedule.

Our customary visit to the Jizo statue.

Today again we prayed with our guests for safe diving.

Starfish, turban shells, sea cucumbers and more were clinging to the Jizo statue's body.

Are they all drawn in by the Jizo's power?

This year the Jizo is having a "Mizutamaumiushi" festival.

Mizutamaumiushi (a nudibranch) show up every year during the murky water season in spring.

Last year we couldn't find a single one, but today there were 6!

I really want you to see this nudibranch!

The hondawara (sargassum) beds are gradually getting more beautiful too.

I'm looking forward to late May, when the visibility recovers!

We were blessed with great weather all day!

U and N, thank you for joining us, it was fun! We look forward to seeing you next time!
